Tricycle-structure-700x455November 2016:  The Tricycle Theatre’s current auditorium and stage, designed by Tim Foster back in 1979 is to be given away for free as the London venue undergoes a major redevelopment.

The 240-seat auditorium is about to be dismantled and replaced by a new theatre as part of the venue’s Tricycle Transformed project.

Tim said (in an interview with The Stage) “It seemed to me a terrible waste to allow it to go in the skip, so I contacted the Tricycle and asked them if I could find a new home for it, which they have now agreed to,”

The specific details are yet to be worked out, but we expect that the whole theatre, including the scaffolding structure itself, the flooring and the seats, will be able to be reassembled.

We have already had several expressions of interest in taking the structure and Tim is due to make a judgement on who will make the best use of the space, taking into account the money it will cost to put it into use, before deciding on a new owner.

We estimate that it will take four to six weeks to assemble, and it must be removed by mid-December. Anyone interested in taking on the theatre should contact us via mail@fosterwilsonarchitects.com
