62-68 York Way
Year: 2008 Budget: Confidential
Planning permission has been granted for a new mixed use building on this important site alongside King’s Cross Station in London. The building has five floors of office space above a ground floor with two retail units.
It is proposed to clad the façade of the building in limestone with inset horizontal glass louvres on the south façade to reduce solar gain. There will be a green roof to improve the appearance of the building when seen from above and create a habitat for wildlife. At high level the building steps back from the street line and the louvres help to shade the office space from direct sunshine. The building incorporates several renewable technologies including solar water heating, ground source heat pumps and connection into a local district energy system.
